Alex Forbes is a classical pianist currently undertaking a Bachelor of Music in piano performance at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. Originally from Adelaide, he started playing the piano at age 9 and has studied with Dr Diana Weekes. Alex has wide experience performing in Eisteddfods, lunchtime concerts and competitions, both solo and collaborative.
Alex also has a passion for languages and has recently completed a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Adelaide, with majors in French and Linguistics. He is able to give piano lessons in French as well as in English.
Alex is happy to teach students from beginner to early advanced levels. He is able to help students prepare for AMEB and other exams. Alex aims to instil a passion for music in students and strives to develop their understanding of music theory, technique and musical expression.
Alex is always keen to discover and cultivate each student’s unique musical interests. He always tries to find suitable repertoire for based on the student’s needs, rather than using any set method. Alex believes that piano lessons should be enjoyable, and that students should learn in an environment where they feel encouraged, confident and independent.
