Piano lessons in-person in Sydney (Baulkham Hills, Hawkesbury, North Sydney, Hornsby, Parramatta and Ryde)

About

After studying with private piano and cello teachers in Sydney and at the Sydney Conservatorium, as well as several years doing a B.Ed at Alexander Mackie Teachers’ College, I moved to Singapore in the 1970s. There, I completed my LRSM (Teaching) and trained as a Yamaha Music Teacher.

Since then, I have lived and taught in Singapore, Canberra and Cairns, eventually moving to Sydney in 1993 where I have set up my studio in my home. I live in Pennant Hills. I teach on a grand piano, Kawai RX-2.

Most of my students receive a practical lesson once a week and, depending on their level, a weekly group musicianship lesson. The duration of the practical lesson depends on the level of the student.

As a means of structured and rounded musical development, I enter my students for AMEB Comprehensive Exams or Repertoire Exams, depending on their needs. To encourage each student and provide them with performance experience, I find student practice competitions and studio concerts helpful.

Above all else, to me, it’s most important to me is that students enjoy their lessons and playing their pieces, understand what they are doing and become inspired by the music they are creating.
