A prolific teaching career over the past 25 years, with students having successes at international music competitions and music conservatories, including the Royal College of Music London, Rotterdam Conservatory, CRR de Paris, Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music and the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music.
Boon guides many gifted young musicians, many of whom have professional music careers and teaching posts in schools, colleges and universities.
Boon’s music has been performed and recorded by the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, professional chamber groups and musicians. They have been published as teaching materials and performed in Australia, Asia and Europe.
Boon conducts consultations and masterclasses online and adjudicates in competitions and music festivals.
He teaches and conducts consultations in his award-winning Private Music Studios online (students worldwide) and in Melbourne, Australia. He consults and directs lessons led at the Studio Annex by the studio’s Senior Associate Pianist, Daniel Tan + supported by three Junior Associate Pianists.
The Main Studio and Studio Annex offer a hybrid approach, combining online lessons (students dialling in from Europe, Asia and Australia) and in-person learning . The studios offer our Studio Community a highly personalised and a proven framework, optimised for accelerated learning. Students have access to the Main Studio’s online resources, including Live Playthrough Online, Live Workshops, Practice Assist programmes, Digital Concert Hall platforms, and a dedicated chat channel. All students have access to professional recording, rehearsal and chamber music facilities at the Studio Annex.
He is a member of the International Society of Music Education, the Boroondara Arts Advisory Committee and is proudly a Patron of 3MBS Melbourne.
