I have an extensive background of classical music education & training. I began playing the flute at the age of 7 & rapidly excelled through the AMEB syllabus, completing Amus & Lmus by the age of 16. I attended Camberwell Girls’ Grammar School & the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School, during which time I studied under Margaret Crawford. I was awarded first prize in numerous competitions, including the Leslie Barklamb Scholarship & the Boroondara Eisteddfod. I was selected to perform in master classes for world-renowned flautists including Paul-Edmund Davies & Emily Beynon.
I also have a broad orchestral experience & training. I was a member of the Melbourne Youth Orchestra throughout my high school years, and was also selected to participate in State Music Camp. I toured with the Australian Youth Orchestra & several of their other programs such as National Music Camp. I have also performed in the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Orchestra.
I then went on to complete a Bachelor of Music Performance at the Australian National University under the guidance & training of Virginia Taylor & Vernon Hill. I am now continuing to enjoy my love of flute & the music community, & sharing my knowledge of the flute through being a nurturing & encouraging teacher. My lessons are tailored to each individual’s needs – whether preparing for AMEB exams, VCE or simply just for fun & enjoyment.
