About Me!
My name is Lauren Parker, I am 18 years old, and I am in my first year of university studying Mechanical Engineering. I started learning the cello at age 8, making this my 11th year of learning! I also play the double bass and the electric bass, which is where my love for jazz formed!
Experience and Expertise
With over 10 years of intensive training in classical cello (as well as some dabbling in jazz cello), I’ve honed my skills through rigorous practice, performances, and teaching engagements. I received high A pluses in all SACE Music Subjects over 2022 and 2023. Furthermore, I have been a committed member of the Adelaide Youth Orchestra (AdYO) for over 5 years. I have won several awards throughout my time playing, further allowing me to grow my skills. I am in my second year of tutoring cello students, and I’m committed to guiding students on their musical journey with patience, encouragement, and a genuine love for the craft.
Balancing Academics and Artistry
Studying Mechanical Engineering at university has instilled in me a disciplined approach to learning and problem-solving. This mindset extends seamlessly into my music teaching, where I emphasise the importance of diligence, perseverance, and creative problem-solving to overcome technical challenges and musical hurdles.
Tailored Lessons
Recognising that each student is unique in their abilities, interests, and learning styles, I strive to create a supportive and personalized learning environment where students can thrive and express themselves freely. Whether you’re a beginner embarking on your musical journey or an advanced player seeking to refine your skills, I’ll work with you to develop a curriculum that meets your goals and aspirations. I charge a rate of $50 per hour, although lessons of any duration can be requested (30 minutes, 45 minutes etc.). I am based in the Eastern Suburbs of Adelaide, and will travel to teach (included in lesson cost for distances within reason).
