Christine Thompson B. Ed., LTCL, MTA, A.Mus.A
Christine has over 35 years’ experience as a teacher and performer. She holds two Trinity College Diplomas in Piano Teaching, an AMEB Associate Performance Diploma and a Bachelor of Education. She is also a qualified specialist in Early Childhood (0 – 8) development and learning.
With a classical music focus, Christine has worked with students of all ages and standards — from beginners to the beginning of advanced grades. She is experienced preparing students for exams — both piano and music theory and musicianship, as well as for performance — for example, student concerts, workshops and eisteddfods. She is known for her considered and insightful approach to her teaching and her ability to nurture the individual learning style of each student.
Christine has taught in NSW and the ACT and her students have gone on to study music at NSW and Victorian Conservatories. Several of her students have also gone on to establish careers in music and pedagogy.
Christine was a member of, and regularly performed with the Klavier Music Association ACT. She also coordinated their Student Concerts program.
Christine has been a member of the Music Teachers Association (MTA) which represents an Australian benchmark for quality in music teaching, and has participated in regular teaching workshops, conferences, seminars and concerts.
While not performing and teaching at her beloved grand piano, Christine enjoys exploring nature, Botanical Art, following international film festivals, and Argentine Tango.
