I am a qualified Music Teacher currently working in the Department of Education, full time since 2010.
I specialise in Alto and Tenor Saxophone – beginner to advancing musicians of all ages.
For the beginning instrumentalist, my philosophy encourages a strong focus on:
– Developing fundamentals in technique
– Tone production
– Intonation
– In depth understanding of theoretical concepts and how they relate to improvisation and composition.
I pride myself on starting beginning students off on the right path, ensuring lessons are both engaging and fun.
Stylistically, I offer a wide range of expertise for the advancing musician. I have had a wealth of performance and recording experience, across multiple genres and settings. Ranging from classical orchestral and wind ensembles to jazz/funk/soul/blues bands as well as composing and improvising on original projects for a range of musicians in Melbourne and abroad as a session musician.
I can help develop improvisation skills and an individual sound across a variety of genres, and refine repertoire for formal assessments such as VCE, examinations and auditions. I workshop existing ensembles/bands, coaching rehearsal techniques and strategies to teach you how to get the most out of rehearsals.
I look forward to your inquiry in how I can assist you or your child learn the Saxophone. Feel free to contact me via email or mobile phone. I have limited availability on Wednesday or Thursday afternoons.
