Jazz specialising bass player studying at Monash, around 10 years of experience in all genres, now doing private lessons in the Melbourne area or from my home

I am an aspiring musician from south Melbourne, heavily inspired by the community around me, the people I play with and the musicians I look up to on our local stages. I started playing guitar at around 7 but soon switched to bass as I have always found myself more attracted to the groove/pocket of music rather than flashy soloing (though I do love to shred every now and again aha). I may be relatively young but I have extensive gigging experience playing all sorts of music from punk to theatre, jazz to metal, funk, RnB, playing in improvised groove bands and cover bands. I also have had tutoring from local greats such as Craig Newman, Simon Starr, Frank DiSario, and Hugh Paddle to name a few. Coming from an improvisational background in music, I strongly believe that, for bass players especially, a strong foundation in groove, timing, tone, technique are and being a good overall supportive musician are absolutely crucial. I teach these things by getting students to learn from the greats of our time, analysing what great players do and engaging with students by using such concepts in practical improvisation. Lessons are for all ages and levels from beginner to advanced. Lessons can be either 30 minutes or a full hour, even longer is possible on request. have been informally tutoring on the side for a few years and now looking for more dedicated students. Received distinctions in music throughout high school, now currently studying jazz at Monash, and am starting to gig more frequently.
