I love violin, and I love teaching – seeing students grow in skill, confidence, and enjoyment. I enjoy searching out the best ways of learning, and helping students meet their own unique challenges along the way.
I teach students who want to learn for fun but also help the more ‘ambitious’ to progress through the AMEB examinations. Whatever the reason for learning, I always focus on building a strong violin technique, and incorporate musicianship and music theory from the first lessons. I teach classical mainly but also enjoy celtic, klezmer and other world music.
Mostly I teach one-on-one so that I can respond to the uniqueness of each student. At the same time I’m a great believer in playing music with other musicians and performing. So I help students partner up with other musicians, or provide opportunities for ensemble playing. And I provide performance opportunities through studio concerts, soirees, devonshire tea and music under the trees…..
