Hello! I’m Mary. I’m the piano teacher at Mary’s Menuet Music Studio. I provide high-quality private piano and theory lessons by integrating a variety of teaching methods, activities, fun games and technology to give you or your child the most comprehensive music education available. My teaching philosophy centres on creating dedicated music students with a life-long love of music
Students are exposed to a whole range of music, technology, styles and creative endeavours. All lessons are created to suit the individual goals, desires and loves of each student. I encourage my students to be curious and creative. I show students how music is constructed and how they can make up their own. I help my students learn music that they want to learn. I develop their reading and technique. Students will learn a large amount of repertoire and enjoy a wholistic education that suits their level and goals for the future.
My student are taught how to play beautifully from the very early stages. One of my passions is to develop a healthy and comfortable technique from an early age. I also help intermediate and advanced students maximise their potential by developing a technique that is aimed to avoid injury, and achieve naturalness and ease at the piano
I can help you prepare for your AMEB or Trinity College exams and/or competitions or develop your playing with a more leisurely structure. The studio holds at least one concert a year where students are encouraged to participate in.
And here is little about myself.
Being a music teacher has my dream from a young age and I have been teaching piano since 2011. I graduated from UQ with Bachelor of Music (Honours), completing an extended major in performance and an Honours thesis in arranging piano music. I obtained an AMusA in piano and also enjoy playing flute and violin and choral singing.
When not musically occupied in teaching, performing, arranging or accompanying, I organize events, go for long walks and engaging in my sewing, crotchet and baking hobbies.
