Private cello lessons at Monica Lima Cello Studio are designed to be held once a week and are individually tailored to each student’s needs, goals and musical learning. All students play The Suzuki method and, as they grow as musicians, other repertoire such as etudes, position studies, scales and other pieces are added to supplement their knowledge.
Children can start to learn the cello at around 4 years old. Parents attend lessons with their child and serve as ‘home teachers” during the week. Adult students are also welcomed!
Group lessons are held a few times a year. In these lessons, students develop their ability to play with others, reinforce their cello technique, study music theory in a fun and enjoyable way, practice aural and sight reading skills and create lifelong friendships. Group lessons serve as a motivator for students and help develop their self-confidence. Most importantly, group lessons are FUN!
Recitals, graduation concerts and Suzuki festivals are an important part of the Suzuki community and families are expected to participate in these events. They are fun and a good motivation for the student and for the family!
