Originally from Melbourne, Rachel has spent much of her oboe career in Europe where she performed as an orchestral and chamber musician, and also toured as a soloist.
Since returning to Australia in 2016, Rachel has performed as first oboe with Adelaide, Melbourne, and Queensland Symphony Orchestras, as well as Orchestra Victoria and Melbourne Chamber Orchestra. And she regularly performs with Arcadia Winds.
Having studied with some of the world’s finest oboists in Europe, including Francois Leleux, Thomas Indermuhle, and Emmanuel Abbuhl, Rachel is keen to share her knowledge and experience with the next generation of Australian oboists. Rachel teaches all levels of oboe playing, from complete beginner (including adults) to advanced oboists, ready to begin their performing careers. She has taught oboe at Melbourne and Monash Universities, as well as Haileybury College, Melbourne Girls Grammar School, and Eltham High School.
Rachel also has a degree in psychology, which gives her deep insight into the learning process, effective practise, and performance preparation.
