18-year-old Sidney Eric started learning the piano at the age of 7. She started her musical journey at Yoon Sen Lee Music School in 2015 under Adam Chan, and since 2016, she has been under the tutelage of Mr Yoon Sen Lee. Currently studying at the University of Melbourne, Sidney has performed widely in international concert halls and has won major prizes at local and international competitions, including the Fremantle Eisteddfod, South Suburban Eisteddfod, North of Perth Music Festival, Joondalup Eisteddfod, Western Australian Pianists Competition, and more. In 2019, when Sidney was 12 years old, she achieved her Associate Diploma from Trinity College London (ATCL) with Distinction in piano performance.
Internationally, Sidney has won First Prize in the Grand Prize Virtuoso International Competition, where she was invited to perform at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. In addition, she won First Prize and Second Prize in the American Protégé International Competition, where she was invited to perform at the Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall, New York. Sidney also won First Prize at the GOCAA Global Youth Pianists Competition held in Shenzhen, China, where she was awarded the title of Signatory Youth Pianist and a contract to perform with the Wuhan Philharmonic Orchestra.
In 2022, Sidney made her orchestral debut as a concerto soloist for the Fremantle Symphony Orchestra. In 2023, Sidney would go on to win the Open Concerto Section in the Fremantle Eisteddfod, where she was awarded an additional contract to perform as a concerto soloist with the Fremantle Symphony Orchestra for 2024 and beyond. In the same year, Sidney completed her ATAR Music recital, receiving a perfect score of 100 marks for piano performance. Her pursuit of musical merit also includes having achieved a Grade 4 in Music Theory.
Aside from her professional music commitments, Sidney enjoys performing music for the local community, evidenced by her active participation as an orchestral percussionist and accompanist for choral ensembles.
