I wholly believe in the valuable role music plays in the cognitive development and creative expression of all individuals from all walks of life. I strive to teach in an engaging, fun and interpersonal way with every student, while at the same time building a strong foundation in musicianship, technical facility and performance repertoire.
Hi! I’m Sinclair. I’ve been studying music for more than 17 years and have been teaching for more than five. I hold a Bachelor of Music – Contemporary Performance from the Australian Institute of Music. I’m a pre-service high school music teacher studying a Master of Teaching – Secondary from the Australian Catholic University.
Music has been my sincerest passion since a young age. Over my time at the Northern Beaches Christian School, I fully immersed myself in the performing arts, regularly participating in vocal ensembles, jazz bands and musical productions. As I furthered my studies at AIM, I was fortunate to have learnt from industry-leading performers; renown pianists such as Dave MacRae and Greg Coffin, and vocal teachers such as Marion Rouvas and Glenn Whitehall.
I have been teaching piano and voice to students of all ages across the Hills for more than five years. From 2017 to 2019, I self-managed and ran a tuition program at St Madeleine’s Primary School. Over my time with the St Madeleine’s community, I led the school choir, directed the music at the annual Christmas concert, and staged performance assemblies and recitals. I have worked with teams of passionate teachers at JHM Academy, Maxx Music and Castle Hill Music. Since 2020, I have been with the JHM team as a Peripatetic teacher at Arndell Anglican College, working with primary and secondary students in individual lessons, group classes and extracurricular programs.
I take pride in my musicality and devote much time towards honing my craft. I actively engage in musicology and music history study, with a comprehensive understanding of the repertoire across contemporary, jazz, musical theatre and classical. My natural ear, by which I can recite melodies and chords verbatim, has been enhanced through aural and relative pitch training.
I regularly engage in professional development and am constantly mastering my pedagogical approach. I have received AMEB certificates in piano, voice and music theory. I maintain an active WWCC and Certificate IV in First Aid, and my music business is fully insured.
