A classically trained violinist and Sydney University student with 1.5 years of experience teaching adults and children violin, 13+ years of experience playing the violin since the age of 5, 8+ years of experience in ensembles, orchestras and performance.
I have experience teaching beginner adults and children (from age 4) and intermediate students (up to Grade 8) for a year and a half. Also have experience teaching a group class of 10 adults.
My lessons are adapted to the student’s needs, I always try to understand the student’s goals, level and playing style, then give them materials whilst demonstrating essential techniques to improve and develop their craft. Whether you want to play just for fun or for exams or any other reason, there are so many amazing things to explore on the violin.
You definitely do not need to do exams to have fun with the violin but for those who do, I am very familiar with AMEB syllabus for exams and have had students succeed in getting excellent marks . If you just want to pick up the violin for leisure and fun that’s completely fine too. I’ve taught many students from scratch in short amounts of time so I’m familiar with it all 🙂
I tend to focus a lot on basic techniques such as posture, intonation, bowing, shifting, articulation and more, as I believe this is the most essential to seeing improvement in your violin playing.
